CVTC offering scholarships in STEM fields

EAU CLAIRE, WI – Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) students enrolled in programs related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields are eligible for scholarships of up to $5,000 per person per year due to a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant.

The five-year grant totaling $597,210 was announced this summer, with applications due Oct. 1. Twenty scholarships a year will be awarded over the next five school years. Recipients must show academic talent, demonstrate some financial need, and enroll full-time in one of the following programs: Industrial Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineering Technologist, Nano Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technician, Information Technology-Network Specialist, Information Technology-Software Developer, and Information Technology-Mobile Developer.

As part of the grant project, CVTC will partner with UW-Stout and area businesses, which will participate in program events, provide tours and presentations, hire scholarship recipients as interns and help guide project activities. Business partners include Fiberstar Bio-Ingredient Technologies, Inc.; Harris Rebar; IDEXX Computer Systems; InvivoSciences, Inc.; Krech Ojard and Associates, Inc.; Menards; Minnesota Wire; OEM Fabricators, Inc.; PMI, LLC; TTM Technologies; and Xcel Energy.
