Life is wonderful here at 110 Park Drive. Each day residents have something to look forward to. The chefs are always baking fresh cookies which are available at all of the five kitchens.
Every day we post signs for the residents so they can see what the planned activities are for that day. They can exercise in REX class 14 times each week, with two additional classes on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Many residents play volley ball every Thursday morning. Another favorite activity is bowling tournaments. Saturday afternoon residents play the Hollywood card game. Residents can also play bean bag toss, golf on the Wii, play cards or work on puzzles in the Square. Many residents go to devotions in the mornings on Monday and Tuesday. We have church on Wednesday morning (there are nine ministers involved in this ministry). Gospel Sing is led by Glen Edberg and Julie McNaughton every Friday morning. Delores Huber is the pianist on Wednesday and Fridays. Loretta Logslett leads Rosary on Friday mornings and once a month the priest from Elk Mound has Mass for our Catholic residents. The afternoon activities vary every day.
On Monday Rudy Rudesill entertained every one with his guitar selections.
Tuesday Bingo and Happy Hour was attended by residents and quests alike. Volunteers Julie Mitchell, Veda Kiekhoefer, Linnea Thompson, and Eileen Stokke kept the game rolling along.
We had Beauty Boutique on Wednesday afternoon. Taek comes to do special manicures. Wednesday evening Residents were treated to a T-Ball Tournament. There were over 100 kids, family members, and residents on our front lawn. “The Star Spangle Banner” was sung by Teresa our Director of Nursing. Everyone sang “Take me out to the ball game”. The announcer was our dietician Amy Ralph’s husband. He introduced the teams. The players ran out on the field as though the event was being broadcast on National TV! Ice cream sandwiches were served after the game. The residents are still talking about how much fun they had watching the game.
Thursday afternoon we showed a movie and had popcorn for the residents. We also had a Joy ride to the Bloomer DQ.
Dime Bingo and another Happy Hour was how many residents kept busy on Friday.
Next Friday August 1 is our Anniversary. We are celebrating our first year in our new facility by having a Pie and Ice Cream Social. Al’s Polka Pals will be the entertainment. We have many things planned for the next 154 days (until January 1, 2015). 22 weeks to eat drink and be merry here in the land of Colfax where there is always SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE the rest of 2014!
