Since a volunteer has not stepped forward to carry on coordinator responsibilities for the Caring Ministries Food Pantry, the doors will be closed beginning Friday, August 8th. The hopes are that this is a temporary situation and that an individual with a passion for reaching out to our community will step forward and the ministry will resume.
Caring Ministries is a Christian-based organization that reaches approximately 50-60 families per year, helping with emergency food supplies and resources. It also coordinates a food distribution program for our school, providing weekly food bags to students in need. There are wonderful volunteers ready to assist and support the coordinator in this ministry.
Members of the community finding themselves in emergency need of food may contact Stepping Stones of Menomonie at 715-235-2920. Their hours and location can also be found by visiting their website at http://www.steppingstonesdc.org. Great Rivers 211 is also available to point people to additional resources by simply dialing 211 from your telephone.
Anyone interested in learning more about the coordinator position may contact Pastor Craig Conklin at 715-962-4335 or Pastor George Schweitzer at 715-962-2280. Any food donations that have been made to Caring Ministries will be stored until the doors are able to be reopened. If food begins to reach expiration dates, donations will be given to Stepping Stones. All financial donations will remain in our account until the ministry is able to resume. If the food pantry is discontinued, these financial donations will also be sent to local food outreach programs including Stepping Stones, Ruby’s Pantry, and the Food Harvest Ministry from Boyceville (all available to members of our community).
