Megan Schleusner, Lakken Meredith attend Health Careers Camp

Northcentral Wisconsin Area Health Education Center (NCAHEC) and Marshfield Clinic welcomed 17 high school students from the NCAHEC eleven-county region to the second annual Health Careers Camp June 22-26, 2014. Two of the students privileged to be part of this year’s camp was Megan Schleusner and Lakken Meredith of Colfax High School.

Students stayed on the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point campus.  Each day, students attended educational sessions and met with health care professionals from local campuses and health care facilities in Marathon, Portage, and Wood counties.  They had the opportunity to take part in hands-on healthcare experiences such as casting, intubating a manikin, and extracting DNA from a banana. Students spoke to health care representatives about career paths and toured various health facilities.

Students were selected to attend this career exploration opportunity based on an application process that included an essay and letters of recommendation.
