Summer time and the living is easy! Residents sleep until they are rested. They have breakfast when they like it, prepared and served just the way they like it. Dirty dishes: no problem, clean dishes magically appear every time they’re hungry. Their rooms are cleaned and their clothes laundered and back in their wardrobes. Sounds like easy living!
Many residents go for a stroll after breakfast, visit with friends over coffee and cookies or just cozy up in their favorite chair and relax. If anyone wants something to do they can go to an exercise class (there are 16 classes every week), or they can attend a church service Wednesday morning. This week Pastor Schoenknecht led the service. Catholic residents can attend Rosary on Friday or Mass on Sunday. Residents can go to the spa, have their nails manicured or have their hair done at our beauty parlor. Some afternoons residents participate in the bowling tournament or go to the Square and listen to a music concert. This week the talented musician Steve Szydel entertained us. Tuesday and Friday residents can play bingo. Of course there is always Happy Hour on Tuesday and Friday too.
Sometimes residents go on Joy Rides. We go to the Dairy Queen, or shopping or just a drive in the country to see how high the corn is. The only difficult thing all day is to decide what you want to do. While planning their day residents can often be seen in the courtyards soaking up the sunbeams! Thanks to the many volunteers, staff, family and friends the residents are showered with blessings.
The Colfax Sesquicentennial celebration will keep everyone in town busy next week. Residents, families and friends will enjoy a Pig Roast on Friday evening July 18th fom 5 p.m. to 8 plm. We will serve roast pork, homemade BBQ sauce, dumplings, sauerkraut, homemade baked beans, desert, games and a raffle. Come and join us. Bring a friend and enjoy great food, fun and entertainment “Down Home” style with Blue Grass music by “Two Frets Up”. Tickets are still available. It was a fantastic week here in the land of Colfax where the sun sets have been stunning, the men are still good looking and the women are always easy on the eyes.
