This week residents had the opportunity to be as busy as they wished.
Monday morning after residents enjoyed their breakfast many came to the square for devotions followed by current events, conversations and exercise. Of course, coffee and fresh baked cookies were served. Many residents went out in the court yard to enjoy the fresh air before going to dinner. Everyday after dinner the Rex Class is held on Birch. In the afternoon residents filled the Square anxiously waiting to hear the music by “Honey and Me”. “Honey” played solo because “Me” is still dealing with some health issues but will be back on the road soon.
On Tuesday morning Cathy and Veda led the devotions, reading and exercise. Bingo and Happy Hour kept many residents occupied and relaxed for the better part of the afternoon. Bounce ball in the Rotunda at 6 p.m. was well-attended as it is an every evening program during the week.
On Wednesday morning Delores Huber was our pianist to accompany Pastor Walck from Colfax Lutheran Church who led the worship service. At noon, the residents from Ridgecrest Manor invited the residents from Sandy Ridge to a Brewers Pizza Party and everyone went. It was a blast! The week before many had gone to the Buck Snort for a fish fry. Residents and staff also had a very special afternoon. We honored Beatrice Root, Barb Stobb and Dick Vandaalwyk in had reaching their 35 year milestone working at Colfax Health and Rehab! Rich Schroeder provided the music and Laurie in the kitchen served a cake she had skillfully decorated. Such talent and dedication!
On Thursday morning residents and staff had a baby shower for Amanda Groepper who is one of our nurses. Baby Colton was cuddled and cooed by everyone. Laurie Humbert served another beautifully decorated cake in Colton’s honor. Colton couldn’t eat any being he is only 3 weeks old, but mom brought some cake home for his papa. The beauty boutique opened in the afternoon. Veda, Cathy and Taek treated residents to manicures.
On Friday morning Breanne Wieser, our Life Enrichment Coordinator was on WEAU talking about our Music and Memory Program. At 9:30 Loretta led the Rosary for our Catholic residents. Glen and Julie led the Gospel Sing. Delores Huber played the piano as resident sang their favorite hymns. The Dime Bingo games were on in the afternoon. Happy Hour after bingo has become a standard affair. We now have it on Tuesdays and Fridays!
On Saturday afternoon residents played Hollywood with Sue. Many residents had company and could be seen enjoying coffee and cookies with their loved ones in the dining rooms and the Square.
The last full week in June was one of our finest. But the best is yet to come with the Sesquicentennial celebrations approaching in July here in the land of Colfax where the fellas are fine, the women wonderful and the children are secure knowing this is one of the best little towns in the country!
