95th Colfax Free Fair starts Thursday

COLFAX — The 95th Annual Colfax Free Fair starts Thursday, June 12, and runs through Sunday, June 15.

New this year at the fair will be bean bag tournaments.

The tournaments for seventh through 12th graders will begin Saturday at 2 p.m. Registration is free.

Bean bag tournaments for adults will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The cost is $10 per two-person team, with 100 percent payback.

The Colfax Free Fair carnival opens at 4 p.m. on Thursday, at 3 p.m. on Friday, at 1 p.m. on Saturday and at noon on Sunday.

Carnival wristbands are $20.

Wristband are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday; from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday; from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; and from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Free stage

Free stage entertainment begins Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. featuring the Sweet Adelines/Red Cedar Sounds and the Dunn County Barbershoppers.

Friday’s entertainment will be Ray Rubenzer, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Colfax Municipal Building Restoration Group.

Teen night with Rick Jenson will be Friday evening from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

BINGO! will be at the free stage on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Prizes will be redeemable at the fair.

Saturday at 8 p.m., weather permitting, an awards ceremony for Grand Champions and Awards of Excellence winners will be held on the free stage.

A non-denominational church service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, followed by the Kiwanis chicken dinner.


Fireworks will be lighting up the Colfax Free Fair at 10 p.m. on Friday.

Beer Garden

The Beer Garden will feature on Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., D.J. Rich Jenson;  Friday, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., Three Bucks and Change; Saturday evening, from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., Radio Drive.

100 years

4-H is celebrating 100 years this year. Visitors to the fair are encouraged to come and see the history of local 4-H clubs in the arts and crafts building.

Thursday, June 12, the arts and crafts exhibits will be judged at 1 p.m.

Small animals (poultry and rabbits) will be judged at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Swine will be judged at 9 a.m. on Friday, followed by goats, dairy, beef and sheep.

Saturday, June 14, the President’s Class for the Dunn County Dairy Open Show will begin at noon. The dairy show begins at 1 p.m.

Sunday, June 15, the meat animal auction will be held at 1 p.m.

The Colfax Free Fair also will once again feature the Country Acres petting zoo.
