Vikings send four individuals and two relays to LaCrosse

COLFAX — A mixture of veterans and first timers from Colfax will travel to LaCrosse this weekend to show case their talents at the WIAA state track and field meet after their performances at the sectional meet held on their home track May 30. The meet was held under sunny skies with the temperature in the mid 80s and resulted in the girls finishing fourth out of 28 teams with 46 points as Eau Claire Regis won the meet with 130 points. The boys ended up 11th in a field of 31, earning 29 points with McDonell Central taking top honors with 58 points.

Seniors Heidi Lieffort and Noah Pretasky will make their fourth trip to the big show as Lieffort won the pole vault (9-00) and took second in the discus (117-10) while Pretasky was third in the 100m dash (11.54) and anchored the 4 X 100 relay which surprised a lot of people by placing third (45.60) with Aliymu Davis, Brad Foyt and Andrew Adix. Ben Kragness will compete for the first time at state after taking second in the shot put (48-10.75) and tying for third in the discus (139-10)

Dempsey Fogarty makes a return trip after winning the 800m run (2:28.55), placing fourth in the 400m run (1:01.57) and anchoring the winning 4 X 800 relay (10:12.47) along with Dannielle Dachel who competes for the third time, Courtney Dressel and Abagail Schotter.

Boys who competed but did not advance include Adix who was sixth in the 200m dash (23.64) and Hunter Lieffort who was 10th in the pole vault (10-06). Dachel finished fourth for the girls in the 800 (2:36.95) and two relay teams comprised of Katie Christoffel, Emily Halpin, Bryana Buchanan and Ally Heidorn were ninth in the 4 X 200 (1:56.88) and 10th in the 4 X 100 (55.26).
