Tuschl takes honors in Statewide Wisconsin Troopers’ Association Art & Essay Contest
The Wisconsin Troopers’ Association is pleased to announce that a local student has placed in their annual statewide Art and Essay Contest.
An Essay entry titled “Noble Helpers” submitted by Shelby Tuschl, a 7th Grade student of Mr. Devine at Colfax Middle School in Colfax, was selected as a Honorable Mention for this year’s competition. Shelby, the daughter of Jon Tuschl and Bob and Alaina Anderson, received a certificate of award.
Below is Shelby Tuschl’s essay, “Noble Helpers”:
“There are so many careers and fields that involve helping others. For example: doctors, police officers, teachers, firefighters, and even veterinarians. They are all greatly depended on. This is why I want to explain to you about what they do for us.
Doctors, whenever you are sick you depend on them to make you feel better. Not only does it come with a lot of responsibility it comes with many years of hard work. Doctors must train a long time to become the people that they are. They have to study all about the body, diseases, and medicines. Related to the doctor is a veterinarian. They must study like a doctor does too. Except they have to study all about animals. They still study about medicine but medicines for animals not humans. They make sure our pets are well cared for and healthy. Without them our pets would be sick and suffering. They believe that kindness should not only be given to humans but to animals as well.
Who would risk their lives to keep us safe? That’s right, our police officers. They protect us from criminals and very dangerous situations. Their job is to protect the citizens. Really we leave our lives in the hands of them. We depend on them to keep us safe. They don’t only need to be strong on the outside but they must have a strong character too. Firefighters risk their lives too. They put out your barbecue that flared up terribly or when that perfect candlelit dinner turned into a disaster. They deal with day-to-day emergency situations like these.
Last but not least our teachers. They provide us with the knowledge we need to know to become these people. Without them you or I wouldn’t be much of a person at all. An education can be a great thing to empower future leaders who can really change the country or even the world.
Devoting your life to others is a great way to live life. By doing this people all over the world will want to be like you and help others too. It is definitely admired by people everywhere. There are many careers that we depend on greatly. There are so many people who go out of their way to go to work and help people like you and me. Maybe you might become one of them someday.”
