Eight Glenwood City honor students for 2014

GLENWOOD CITY —  The Glenwood City High School Class of 2014 has eight honor students.

The students took time out of their busy schedules to answer a questionnaire from the Tribune Press Reporter to provide the following profiles.

The order is alphabetical and not in order of the class ranking.

Kayla Bloss

Kayla is the daughter of Terry Bloss and Angela Bloss.

List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. State track, Florida band trip, Homecoming, football games, and sports.

List your favorite high school classes. Gym because I love being active; Human Anatomy and Medical Terminology because I plan on going into the medical field.

What activities were you involved in during high school? Band and Choir – 4 years; Show Choir – 3 years; Color Guard – 2 years; Basketball, Volleyball, Track – 4 years; Honors Band – 2 years; Student Council – 4 years; National Honor Society – 3 years; Art Club – 4 years.

What are your plans after graduation? I plan to attend the University of Wisconson-La Crosse for Athletic Training.

Jacob Carlson

Jacob is the son of Thomas Carlson and Joan Carlson.

List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. State football back-to-back, wrestling state.

List your favorite high school classes. Spanish was my favorite class because there was never a dull moment. We were always doing something and we were always learning.

What activities were you involved in during high school? NHS – grades 10-12; Student Council – grade 9; Class officer – grade 12 (Vice President); Football – grades 9-12; Wrestling – grades 9-12; baseball – grades 9-12.

What are your plans after graduation? I am planning on having a full time summer job and after that I am going to attend UW-Stout to earn my Masters in Engineering.

Ryan Curtis

Ryan is the son of Gracia Larson and Jim Curtis.

List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. My most memorable memory would be going to state for FCCLA. My event got to go to state by default. I met a lot of interesting people and made a few friends.

List your favorite high school classes. Physics, Calculus, and Game Design and Development. Physics and Calculus were enjoyable not only because they were challenging but also because of the awesome teachers, Mr. Ketola and Ms. Lamb. Game Design and Development was another favorite because I got to use a program I will be using in college.

What activities were you involved in during high school? Cross County – grade 9; FCCLA – grade 11; Art Club – grades 9 and 11; DECA – grade 10; National Honors Society – grade 12.

What are your plans after graduation? This summer I am going to be living with my brother and working full time at Oxbo International. In the fall I will be attending UW-Stout and majoring in Computer Science.

Donovan Fornal

Donovan is the son of Don and Sonja Fornal.

List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. Camp Randall, State Wrestling, Tony’s Kick Return, Senior Class President.

List your favorite high school classes. Gym – dodgeball and weightlifting…what more could I ask for? Technical Communications – made great memories with Jeff and Damian on Topper Times.

What activities were you involved in during high school? Tech Ed Club 3 years (freshman-junior); Football – 4 years; Wrestling – 4 years; track – 3 years (sophomore-senior).

What are your plans after graduation? I am attending school at Saint Cloud State University, majoring in Business and minoring in Spanish.

Becca Jensen

Becca is the daughter of Chris and Lorie Jensen.

List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. There are too many great memories for me to choose my favorite, because I have done so many fun things over the years with my best friends. My year abroad in Thailand also included unforgettable experiences.

List your favorite high school classes. My favorite classes during high school are my social studies classes. I enjoy learning about history as well as how the world works now.

What activities were you involved in during high school? Student Council – 9th, 10th, 12th; Footloose – 10th; Art Club – 9th, 10th, 12th; Joseph – 12th; NHS – 10th, 12th; Rotary Youth Exchange Student (Thailand) – 11th; Show Choir – 9th, 12th; Softball – 9th, 10th, 12th.

What are your plans after graduation? My plans after graduation are to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to major in Nursing and participate in the pre-med program. Over the summer I plan to work at the Pharmacy in Glenwood City.

Jenna Magsam

Jenna is the daughter of Kerry and Darla Magsam.

List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. School plays, winning the regional track and field meet in 2012, 8th grade field trip to Milwaukee and Madison.

List your favorite high school classes. Sociology – I enjoyed looking at our society at a different perspective! Human Anatomy – I enjoyed learning about different bones and muscles because I’m going to Physical Therapy Assistant Program.

What activities were you involved in during high school? Band: 8 years; Yearbook Committee: 4 years; Choir: 6 years; School Play Productions: 2 years; Show Choir; FFA: 4 years.

What are your plans after graduation? I plan to work at the Parkview Nursing Home through the summer. Then I will attend college at CVTC Campus in River Falls until the two-year waiting list is done to attend the Eau Claire Campus. I’m majoring as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Richard Ross

Richard is the son of Jim and Terri Ross.

List the most memorable event that happened while you were in high school. State Football 2012 and 2013; the musicals Footloose and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.

List your favorite high school classes. Spanish because there was never a dull moment with Señora and my classmates. Band because of Mr. Lamb’s jokes and family stories.

What activities were you involved in during high school? Basketball – 4 years; Football – 4 years; Golf – 2 years; Footloose 2012 (co-star) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat (star); Tech-Ed Club, Choir and Band – 4 years.

What are your plans after graduation? I am attending CVTC in Eau Claire this fall. I intend to study criminal justice. I am hopefully going to become a police officer in Minneapolis or St. Paul.

Casey Wittmer

Casey is the daughter of Jody Hetrick and Matt Hetrick.

List your favorite high school classes. Parenting, because it was a great experience to take home the baby.

What activities were you involved in during high school? FCCLA: 4 years; Art Club: 4 years; Show Choir: 3 years; Yearbook Committee: 1 year.

What are your plans after graduation? I plan on going to UW-Green Bay to major in Psychology.
