COLFAX — All six Dunn-St. Croix Conference golf teams managed to get a meet in April 15 before two inches of snow fell in the area covering area golf courses. Playing on their home Whitetail Golf Course, the Colfax team struggled and finished last in the opening meet.
Although the sky was blue and the sun was shining, temperatures were in the mid-30s for most of the meet, making it a little difficult for all the players to grip the clubs and keep warm. With 30 golfers in the varsity meet, Trevor Seston led the Colfax players with a nine hole round of 44 for seventh place, just four strokes behind the medalist Jonah Tczap of St. Croix Central. Trey Gullickson finished ninth with a 47 as both players earned conference points for the Vikings. Getting their first taste of high school golf competition, Bryce Fransway shot a 77, Andrew Buckley an 82 and Trenton Anderson an 88.
“Our younger kids are learning how to deal with tough competition and different weather conditions,” Colfax coach Vince Ross said. “But scores should improve when and if we ever get out on the course for some good practices.”
A meet scheduled at Glenwood City April 17 was rescheduled for April 21.
