Colfax Health and Rehab – 4-16-2014

Spring! Residents have been very happy now that warmer weather has arrived. The “Winternity” has lasted long enough!  We’re looking forward to all the exciting things that are coming up on our Calendar. On Saturday the 19th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 we will be having our Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the courtyards.

It will be hosted by the 22’ers 4-H club and the Colfax Area Businesses. They will have a petting zoo and I have been told that Peter Rabbit will help the Easter Bunny hide the egg and candy. Children who are preschool through 2nd grade are welcome.

Easter week will be even more special this year because we are having an Easter Worship Service on Easter Sunday! The Service will start at 9am. Pastor DeMaris will lead the service. Delores Huber will be our pianist. Coffee and special treats will be served after the service. Family and friends are welcome to come and share this time with their loved ones. If you are planning to have Easter Dinner with your loved ones at the nursing home and have not reserved a dining area, please call Laura (715-962-3186).

This week we prepared for next week’s festivities. The Monday “Show or Tell” called “Egg Citing” was presented by Sue Hill. Residents enjoyed the lavish display of eggs from all over the world. The famous Faberge’ egg’s video was shown featuring the eggs that were created in Russia by Peter Carl Faberge’ for the Imperial family. Sue also showed a replica of some of these Faberge’ treasures.

On Tuesday and Friday afternoon residents’ families and friends joined them for Bingo. Wednesday morning Pastor Hal Schroeder from Barum & Big Elk Creek in Elk Mound led the church service. Pastor Hall has led services on our campus for 17 years.

Delores Huber was our pianist on Wednesday. She also played for us on Friday at our Gospel Sing. Thursday morning the priest from St. Joseph Parishes in Elk Mound held Mass.

Friday morning Loretta led Rosary for Catholic residents. Glen Edberg and Julie McNaughton lead the Sing.

Other volunteers who were here this week were Linnea Thompson, Veda Kiekhoefer, Merle Roth, LeAnn Mayner, Leona Ubbelhode, Vonnie Flesberg and Taek Kruger. Thank you for your time and talents! Speaking of talent; we were treated to a rousing musical afternoon on Thursday with the talented Dale Martell. He had everyone’s toes pitter-pattering as he played his fiddle and guitar.

That is just a little of what goes on here in the beautiful land of Colfax where the men have traded orange gear for camouflage  and the women have traded winter boots for sandals!
