Colfax track teams compete at Menomomie Invite

MENOMONIE — Although it was hosted by Menomonie High School, the Colfax track and field teams competed against 10 area teams at an indoor meet held at Knowles Fieldhouse on the UW-River Falls campus April 1. Led by individual winners Dempsey Fogarty, Courtney Dressel and Heidi Lieffort, the girls’ team placed fifth, while the boys highest individual finish came by Noah Pretasky with a second place as the team ended up 10th. The top eight places all counted for team points.

 

 Fogarty won the 800m run at 2:36.83, was also third in the 400m dash with a time of 1:6.15 and was fourth in the long jump, leaping 14-07.75. Dressel beat all competitors in the 3200m run in 23:20.47 and was third in the 1600 run in 5:57.08. And Lieffort continues to soar as she won the pole vault at 7-06. Adding to the team point total were Dannielle Dachel with a third place in the 800m run at 2:39.97, Emily Halpin also took third in the shot put  with a personal best heave of 31-03.50 while more points were earned in the shot put as Marianne Scharlau took fifth at 29-09.50 and Andrea Brantner placed eighth at 27-03.50.

Pretasky earned his runner up place in the 200m dash in a time of  24.36 and added team points in the 55m dash with a third place at 6.80. Hunter Lieffort continues to fly high as he reached a personal best height in the pole vault placing third at 10-06, while fifth place finishes came from Jacob Larson in the 1600m run at 5:46.08, Andrew Adix in the high jump at 5-04 and the 4 X 200 relay consisting of Adix, Brad Foyt, Tucker Teige and Aliymu Davis at 1:42.74.

Other athletes finishing in the top 20 of their events for the girls include Lieffort (11th shot put, 26-05, 12th high jump, 4-02), Bryana Buchanan (14th in the freshman 55m dash, 8.79), Serena Secraw (16th 1600m run, 19th 800m run), Erin Nellessen (12th 400m dash, 1:15.05), Allie Yingst (16th 400m dash, 1:17.87), Andrea Scharlau (18th 400m dash, 1:18.50), Katie Christoffel (20th long jump, 12-01) and the 4 X 200 relay with Buchanan, Christoffel, Nellessen and Halpin (11th, 2:07.55)

Top 20 finishers for the boys were  Ben Kragness (ninth, shot put, 40-09), Tucker Hovde (10th 400m dash, 59.90, 12th 800m run, 2:23.74), Kamdon Quast (11th pole vault, 8-00), Adix (12th long jump, 17-02.75), Davis (14th long jump, 17-01.50, 15th 200m dash, 25.78, 19th freshman 55m dash, 7,83), Larson (16th 800m run, 2:31.40) and Teige (17th 400m dash, 1:00.92).

GIRLS TEAM SCORES: Eau Claire Regis 120, Menomonie 105, Elmwood-Plum City 71, Bloomer 69, Colfax 62, Eau Claire North 42, Amery 37, Chippewa Falls McDonell 24.50, Ellsworth 22, Somerset 21, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser 7.50.
