Crazy About LEGOs!

How do you engage 20+ children in one small room?  You offer a LEGO club!  The Colfax Public Library is one of many libraries in the Chippewa Valley that now offers a LEGO club for children between the ages of 4-10 years old.

The Youth Services Librarian (Jolene Albricht) and the Library Director (Lisa Ludwig) started planning for the new LEGO Club back in November 2013.  It took the librarians about three months to implement their plan for this new children’s program, plus ordering all the new LEGOs.  Albricht also spent time applying for grants from local sources around the village of Colfax.  So far, the library has received grant funding from Bremer Bank, Kyle’s Market, Colfax Kiwanis, and also anticipates receiving other donations from local sources.  The library has also received two separate donations from a local woman who feels very passionate about her little public library.  “We love our local library patrons, Ludwig stated.  When long-time library users donate to our library, we know they cherish us and appreciate our services that we offer to the community.  It’s a fantastic feeling for librarians.”

The LEGO Club will be offered twice a month on the second and fourth Thursday’s of each month at 3:30-4:30 pm.  Look for all library events posted on their library Facebook page and webpage.  For questions about the LEGO Club, or other library programs, call the library during open hours 715-962-4334.
