Three Elk Mound powerlifters competed at the State High School Powerlifting meet in Osceola on Saturday, March 8.
To earn an invitation to the state meet, lifters need to lift a qualifying total weight based on their weight class. Totals are the combined weights they lift in the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Approximately 418 lifters from throughout Wisconsin qualified for the 2014 state meet.
In the 114 lb. boys class, senior Peter Lor tied for 5th place with a total lift of 720 lbs and freshman George Friberg placed 12th with a total lift of 645 lbs. In the 132 lb. girls class, junior Elizabeth Schreiber placed 8th with a total lift of 700 lbs. 19 athletes competed on the Elk Mound powerlifting team this season.
