Holiday light recycling program is a success

Thanks to Dunn County residents and the Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM), 350 pounds of Christmas lights were recycled this past holiday season.  Lights were collected from November through the end of January with drop off points at the Dunn County Transfer Station and Recycling Center and multiple Area Collection Stations.  The lights were then picked up by RAM to be processed throughout the year.

RAM’s holiday light recycling program employs over 200 individuals with disabilities at vocational centers throughout the state of Minnesota.  Every part of the light strand is dismantled by vocational center clients and properly recycled.

Dunn County Solid Waste plans to participate in RAM’s recycling program again next holiday season.  However, to dispose of holiday lights until then, please place them in the scrap metal bin at the Dunn County Transfer Station and Recycling Center or any area collection station.
