COLFAX — Five candidates have filed nomination papers for three positions on the Colfax Village Board for the April 1 election: Mark Halpin (incumbent); Richard Johnson (incumbent); Carey Davis; George Richards; and Jeremy Klukas.
The Colfax Messenger sent out questionnaires to all of the candidates.
Richard Johnson returned the second questionnaire to the Colfax Messenger office.
Johnson is a resident of Park Drive in Colfax and has served as a village trustee on the Colfax Village Board for the past 17 years.
Here are Johnson’s answers to the questionnaire:
1. Why have you continued to run as a candidate for the Colfax Village Board? Getting involved in projects or village business and then wanting to follow it to completion for the betterment of the village.
2. What aspects of your background make you particularly suited for serving on the village board? The years of experience as a trustee in small town government and operation.
3. What issues do you see as being the most important for Colfax and why? Providing and maintaining needed services for the residents and taxpayers of the village. If infrastructure is available and in place, people will bring development.
4. What issues do you hope to bring to the Colfax Village Board or would like to see addressed by the board? Rising taxes (mandated vs. desired expenses).
