Colfax Health and Rehab – 1-29-2014

January! What a month this has been with cold, grey skies, snow, wind and more cold. Even all the cars and trucks are grey. When you read this there will be only 49 days until the first day of spring! Here at Colfax Health and Rehab we are warm and busy.

On Monday and Tuesday mornings we have devotions, current events, and exercise. On Monday afternoon Lee and Sue led the “Wheel of Fortune” game and the “Giant Crossword Puzzle”. On Tuesday afternoon the regular Bingo games and Happy Hour kept the residents entertained and stocked with snacks and prizes.

On Wednesday morning Pastor Taylor led the worship service. He played his guitar and sang-a-long with the residents. Pastor Jason Taylor is the minister at Otter Creek Christian Fellowship Church. He is originally from Wheaton Illinois. He attended UW Stout for Construction Management. Jason said he spent more time reading the Bible than my text books. This realization led him to Calvary Chapel Bible College in California. He later became a youth pastor in Bible studies in Chicago. Pastor Taylor and his wife Patsy have three children, Isaac, Clark and Ingrid. Isaac and Clark have come and played the piano for our residents in the past. We are blessed with so many volunteers who make the residents days eventful.

On Thursday, Pastor Schoenknecht was here for a “Show or Tell”. He showed a video tour of Italy that he and his wife had been on last year. Everyone enjoyed it and had coffee and cookies following the program.

On Friday Glen and Delores led the gospel sing. Loretta Logslett led the Rosary for our Catholic residents. Veda and Linnea were here much of the week volunteering their time and talents. Dime Bingo and more coffee and cookies filled the afternoon on Friday.

On Saturday residents had Rex Classes and Hollywood card games in the afternoon. In the evening the Square was transformed into a festive fund raising event. The wine tasting and silent auction was a great success and many thanks to all who made this possible. We are having another Saturday evening event in February.

On February 22nd we are having “North of Dixie” a blue grass band will be here in the Square. Check out their web site: This event will be sponsored by AgStar as a gift to our residents and their families and friends. The more the merrier! Refreshments will be served.

That is some of the news here in the land of Colfax, where the men are still strong and the women are always good looking!
