Love Lights, our holiday tradition

submitted by Penny Streifel, Colfax Health and Rehab Center

The holidays are a time of joy, laughter, family and friends. For many of us it is also a time of giving and remembering. Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center sponsors a number of events to help us remember loved ones while at the same time supporting health care needs within our community. One example is the lighting of the Love Lights.

We know the beauty of a single light, but the brilliance of many lights shining together to form a Star cannot be matched.

During 2012 while our new facility was in construction, Market & Johnson put a brilliant star on the roof of our new building. The star could be seen from afar and fulfilled a prophecy of a new facility.

Now it’s 2013 and we are in our new campus! Once again we will have a star on our roof for the community to see. Our “Love Light Star” is reminiscent of the Bethlehem Star.

Our annual Love Light project has enabled us to provide much needed equipment and support services to enhance resident care. The event culminates with a lighting of the “Love Light Star” ceremony held at 2pm on December 5th in the “Square” our activity room. Lights illuminated on the star signify donations received by the program. A complete list of those who submitted the names to be remembered and honored will be published in the Colfax Messenger during the week of Christmas.

The deadline to submit names is November 27, 2013. Please include $5.00 for each name with a check payable to Colfax Health and Rehab Center.110 Park Drive, Colfax, Wisconsin 54730.

Thank you in advance for your continued support of this Holiday Giving Tradition.
