By LeAnn R. Ralph

TOWN OF TILDEN — A 54-year-old rural Colfax man was killed and his daughter was severely injured Sunday when the 1934 Chevy Coupe he was driving struck a tree in the Town of Tilden.

According to a report from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Dale A. Schneider was giving rides in the classic car at around 2:30 p.m. November 3 on county Highway Q just north of 115th Avenue.

Witnesses told investigators that they heard the Chevy Coupe accelerate rapidly and then the vehicle struck a tree a short distance down the road.

Tire marks on the road indicated heavy acceleration and the driver losing control, causing the vehicle to go off the road and strike the tree.

Schneider’s daughter, Kari A. Schneider, 25, of Bloomer, was a passenger in the vehicle.

The Tilden Fire Department, Bloomer ambulance, and Life Link medical helicopter responded to the scene.

Schneider was unresponsive when rescue crews arrived and was transported to the hospital in Bloomer where he was pronounced dead.

Kari Schneider was transported by Life Link helicopter with serious injuries.

Schneider’s wife, Lynn, is the owner of Lynn’s Brewed Awakenings in Colfax.

His daughter, Dana Schneider, is a funeral director with Sampson Funeral Home.
