Restoration group receives $3,000 grant

COLFAX — The Colfax Municipal Building Restoration Group has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Dunn County.

The grant application was written for the purpose of obtaining money to repair and paint the ceiling and walls near the theater entrance and leading upstairs to the balcony of the Colfax Municipal Building.

The municipal building was finished in 1915 and is listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places.

The building’s exterior is constructed of sandstone quarried just west of Colfax.

Earlier this summer, CMBRG paid for painting the auditorium and getting the original stage curtains cleaned and reinstalled.
