The Bluegrass Jam is Saturday, November 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Grace Room at the Old School.
Sand Creek Arts is sponsoring a Halloween Party at the Old School Gym/Sand Creek Arts Building on Thursday, October 31 at 6 p.m. Costume judging is at 6:30 p. m. Games, food and fun will be for all ages. Please come.
Library Program has plans for November so save the date, Saturday, November 9 at 12:30 p.m. in the Grace Room at the Sand Creek Arts Building. Mark Bergen, Mountain Man re-enactor comes dressed as a mountain man in his persona of “Titus Bass”. Come and enjoy the informative program geared for adults and children, 8 and over.
Dale and Sue Paulson hosted a birthday party on Sun. Oct. 20 for their aunt, Lois Moore. Guests included: honored guest Lois and her husband Joseph, Sarah and Ben Knepper and Eddie, Eric Paulson, Cindy Schaller, Danny and Debbie Paulson, Roger Paulson, Louise and Jim Wanner. Also in attendance were Mary and Jim Ricci, Mary and Jim’s daughter, Danielle and her two daughters, Isabella and Jessalyn.
Edie Olson of St. Paul Park and Deb Epp of Elk Mound and cousin Vivian Mundt of Rice Lake came to play Scrabble at the home of Delores and George Vlcek on Sat. Oct. 26. The sisters really enjoyed their time together and do it in memory of their mother who enjoyed it so much. The men had their fun hauling wood and just being together.
Renny and Jack Kidder from Minneapolis joined Orwin Sparby and Elaine Toycen for lunch in Sand Creek on Fri. Oct. 25 and then went on to Bloomer where they met sister, Judy Anderson at Hetzel Care Center. David Anderson then came for the afternoon entertainment. The Sparby family has always enjoyed singing and harmonizing together and David and Judy with Renny and Orwin sang a number of old hymns. It proved to be a great afternoon for the residents and all present.
On Friday evening of Oct. 25, Stephanie Moerke and Tracey Cowley hosted a surprise retirement party for their dad, Louie Reetz which was held at the Grace Room of the Old School. Everyone had a great time and it was a big turn-out. Congratulations, Louie.
Louie had spent 20 years in business at the Home Store in Sand Creek and then after that worked 20 years at Cardinal Glass in Menomonie, so he has been busy. Louie is never idle.
Swanee Rassmussen was hospitalized from Wed. Oct. 23 to Fri. Oct. 25. She is doing very well now. On Fri. evening she joined Elaine Toycen, Sue Piotrowski and Nancy Erickson for a fish and shrimp dinner at Clicker’s in Dallas. On Sunday, Oct. 27 Swanee benefited from the Independent Church potluck with a wonderful potluck dinner plate brought to her home.
Jerry and Becky Loftus and daughter, Lacey went out for fish at Clicker’s in Dallas before attending the football game where Lance played with the Chetek-Weyehaeuser team with an “exciting win” on Friday evening, Oct. 25.
Brenda Espeseth visited Avis Hanson on Fri. morning of Oct. 25 when they enjoyed coffee together.
Kim Weiss of Eau Claire, daughter of Tom and Judy Vaughn, helped out on Thurs. evening, Oct. 17 by working at the Pumpkin Fest.
Independent Bible Church had their annual church meeting on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 10 am. A potluck dinner was served following the worship service.
Kayleigh Ray spent Sunday afternoon, Oct. 27 with her grandparents, Tom and Judy Vaughn.
On Saturday, Oct. 19. a large group from Sand Creek traveled to Shakopee, MN to ride roller coasters and go through several haunted houses at Valley “Scare”. The local group included Doug and Becky Westholm, Derek, Brandon, Benjamin and Danielle along with Julie and Marissa Cyrus. Also attending were Kaitlyn Gartner of River Falls, WI and Jordan Becker of Mondovi, WI.
On Sunday, Oct. 20, Becky and Derek Westholm attended the production of Wicked at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Minneapolis. The Broadway production is nearing the end of its 6 week run in the Twin Cities.
On October 24-26 and Oct. 31-Nov. 2, the Theater department at UW River Falls produced the musical Chicago. Derek Westholm, a Junior Music Education Major at UWRF was the percussionist in the pit orchestra for the production. Attending the show during the first weekend run were Derek’s family, Doug and Becky Westholm, along with Brandon, Benjamin and Danielle. Also attending were friends Michelle and Rose Anderson of Bloomington, MN, Kaitlyn Gartner of River Falls, Julie and Marissa Cyrus, and Bill and Joyce Barten.
