Lady Vikings compete in Cameron tourney
The Colfax volleyball team finished 4-6 in sets at the Cameron Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday, Oct. 19. According to coach Pam Meredith, the tournament was loaded with state ranked and very talented teams.
Colfax began the day winning two sets against Rice Lake, but struggled offensively and defensively the rest of the day and lost both sets to Fall Creek and Grantsburg before splitting with Bloomer and Cameron.
Kori Buchanan finished her day with 30 kills while Chey Olson collected 15, Braanna Steen 14, Taylor Shipman 13 and Alexis Rudi and Dannielle Dachel had 10 each. Olson led in digs with 30 and Buchanan added 26 to go with 22 from Rudi, and Olson also led in blocks with eight. Rudi had a perfect day at the service line on 28 of 28 serves with two aces, Buchanan came up with six aces and Olson and Lakken Meredith added four aces apiece. Meredith led in assists with 50 and Dachel finished with 38.
“We had 14 service errors and too many attack errors that took us out of the match,” coach Meredith said. “If we plan on competing at a high level in playoffs we have to play at a level we are capable of.”
