Extra! Extra! Read all about it! We had another great week here in the land of Colfax. That’s 10 great weeks in a row since we moved into our new facility! The residents have been able to get out and enjoy the sunshine and everyone is getting to know all the nooks and crannies of the new building.
The “Square” continues to be the gathering place with devotions in the mornings and a variety of programs in the afternoon. This week we tried a new program called “Bridging Memories.” It is an interactive DVD with advertisements and products from the 1950’s era. Many recalled that gas and milk were very inexpensive; however, a new Corvette was $3,500.00. “Oh well” one Resident said “I couldn’t have afforded a Corvette anyway.” Tuesday and Friday we played Bingo. The Church Ladies from Norton Church sponsored a resident birthday party with donuts after the Friday Bingo game. We played volleyball, went on an outing to see the colorful leaves and ended the trip by stopping for ice cream cones at Little Italy. Movies and Popcorn in the Square on Wednesday and music performed by Dale Martell on Thursday kept us entertained. Pastor Schroetter from Barum & Big Elk Creek Church in Elk Mound led the church service on Wednesday morning. Delores Huber played the piano and Linnea Thompson was here to help where needed. Friday morning we had our gospel sing with Julie, Glen and once again Delores as our pianist. Leona Ubbelohde came and visited on the weekend. She is such a breath of sunshine for our residents. That’s all here in the land of Colfax where the men are hoping the Packers win, and the women do to!
