Mounders stampeded by Buffaloes

MONDOVI — The Mondovi football team scored on their first possession and kept on scoring as they remained alone at the top of the conference with a 47-7 win over the young Elk Mound team Oct. 4 at the Buffalo corral.

Elk Mound freshman Noah Zurbuchen continues to carry the load on the ground as he rushed for 98 yards on 25 attempts, scoring the Mounders only touchdown with 7:00 to go in the game on a one yard plunge. By then Mondovi had the game in hand, up 47-0 as five different players crossed the goal line including Jake Ede four times.

Hunter Adelman, another freshman, carried the ball nine times for the Mounders for 59 yards while quarterback Travis Nelson completed four of 10 passes for 23 yards. Cole Tyman snared two of those passes for 12 yards and Hunter Alexander and Jon Storing each caught one.

“Mondovi is a very good team, they are lead by a very good group of seniors. Our boys played until the last whistle and I believe got better even though we lost. Our goal is to improve every game and I believe we are getting better,” said Elk Mound head coach Dave Lew.
