Lady Vikings pound Pepin, Plum City

With a little help from their friends down the road, the Colfax volleyball team moved back into a tie for the conference lead when they won in three sets at home over the Pepin Lakers Oct. 1 and two days later again took a clean sweep at Plum City. Four teams now all have just one loss in the conference including Colfax, Mondovi, Boyceville and Spring Valley.

Pepin

With a loss to Mondovi last week, the Vikings know they have to win the rest of their conference games plus have someone pin a loss on those undefeated Buffaloes to have a chance at the conference title. They started their week by beating the Lakers 25-21, 25-14 and 25-18 then found out later Elk Mound won a five set match against Mondovi the same night. With Spring Valley and Boyceville also winning, things should get rather interesting in the next two weeks since each team only plays each other once in conference play.

The Vikings had a well rounded attack game as four players combined for 30 kills with Chey Olson leading the way with nine, Kori Buchanan added eight, Braanna Steen seven and Taylor Shipman six. Dannielle Dachel and Lakken Meredith totaled 28 assists and Buchanan added  a team leading 16 digs while Emily Halpin finished with three block-kills.

Plum City

The Vikings had to come from behind in the first set against a scrappy Blue Devil team before pulling out a 25-22 win, then took set number two 25-20 and breezed through the third set for a 25-14 win.

Buchanan led Colfax with 14 kills, Shipman slammed six and Steen five.Olson was a wall at the  net and from the back row with three block kills and 13 digs and Alexis Rudi saved points for the team also with 13 digs. Meredith and Dachel continue to set up their teammates for big slams as they combined for 23 assists in the match.
