Mounder spikers continue to roll

A home volleyball game against Elmwood Sept. 24 resulted in a three set sweep for the Elk Mound girls over Elmwood by scores of 25-12, 25-8 and 25-9, and traveling to Glenwood City two days later, they left town with the same results, sweeping the Hilltoppers 25-12, 25-8 and 25-19. The pair of wins leaves the Mounders in a three way tie for second place in the conference at 3-1 as they host the 4-0 conference leading Mondovi Buffaloes Oct. 1.

Elmwood

Attacking the net wasn’t a problem as 33 of the 75 points for the Mounders were off kill shots with Anna Sessions leading the way with seven while Lizzie Schreiber and Moriah Mauer had five each, Morgan Polden and Katie Johnson both had four and Katie Benson added three. Elk Mound also came up big from the service line with 14 aces including six by Johnson and five from Elly Friberg. Johnson had a team leading 18 assists and defensively Mattie Pitts picked up a pair of digs and Schreiber and Benson both had a solo block.

Glenwood City

Strong net play with 39 kills in the match told the tale again as Polden and Sessions each slammed 10 while Schreiber added seven. Nine service aces also helped their cause with Friberg collecting five and Johnson three, and Johnson had a phenomenal 27 sets for the team while Mauer blocked three Topper shots.
