Mounder spikers win one, lost three at North Invite

Playing four matches in a Saturday tournament, the Elk Mound volleyball team finished 1-3 at the Eau Claire North Invitational Sept. 21.

The Mounders’ only win came in straight sets over Thorp and they lost in two sets to conference rival Mondovi and to tournament champion Altoona, also in two sets. Playing against Division 1 team Eau Claire Memorial, the Mounders won the first set against the Old Abes before dropping the next two.

Katie Johnson led the Lady Mounders in assists for the tourny with 54 and in ace serves with five while collecting 15 digs on the defensive side. Lizzie Schreiber slammed 21 kills with nine coming against Memorial and Anna Sessions scored points with 17 kills, with nine against Memorial also. Elly Friberg ended the day with nine kills and Rachel Caron had a team leading 16 digs.
