Sand Creek Chatter – 9-18-2013

Nathan and Amy Vlcek hosted a party for grandparents, Bub and Sandy Hom from Rice Lake, also some cousins and friends of the Cornell area, and grandparents, George and Delores Vlcek. They enjoyed good food and watched the Packer game.

 In a trip to Eau Claire on Friday Sept. 13, George and Delores Vlcek brought tomatoes to Harold and Diane Vlcek, next was fresh corn to the Bill and Karen Vlcek home and then they stopped at the Brian Vlcek home to inspect remodeling of their kitchen and later stopped and saw Dave Vlcek as well as Wes and Charlene Vlcek.

Elaine Toycen, Orwin Sparby and Renny Kidder met cousins Dale and Joann Lind and Mary Englund for lunch at Perkins Restaurant in Apple Valley, MN. They also visited Pearl Kinsbeck at the Augustana Nursing Home on Wednesday, Sept. 11

Phyllis Hansen Johnson of Dearborn, Michigan and Betty June Hendrickson Olson of Rochester, MN drove out to Sand Creek on Thursday, Sept. 12 to meet Mae Sparby, Swanee Rasmussen, Elaine Toycen and Gert Berg for noon lunch at the Sand Creek Café. They had great time reminiscing and “catching up” on one another’s news.

They were overnight guests of Vernoid and Ardys Hoveland in Colfax. Then on Friday, Sept. 13, Vernoid and Ardys, Phyllis and Betty went to their Chetek Class of 1943 Reunion held at Red’s in Chetek.

Gene and Bonnie Peterson hosted a brunch on Saturday, Sept. 14 for Phyllis Johnson of Dearborn, Michigan and Betty Olson of Rochester, MN.

Dave and Sara Wattford and Kalia of Sheboygan spent the weekend of Sept. 6, 7 and 8 with Glenn and Margie Anderson.

Glenn and Margie hosted a brunch at their home on Saturday, Sept. 7 for Russ and Sue Pruzek.

Then on Saturday evening of Sept. 7, Glenn and Margie had invited Cory and John Schneider and their boys to join the Wattford’s for an evening dinner.

Mae Sparby met classmates of the class of 1944 held at Red’s in Chetek on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Jean Hanson met her granddaughter, Stephanie Hanson and fiancé, Loren Thomas at the Hope and Anchor in Chetek for coffee and fellowship on Friday afternoon, Sept. 13.

Sue Favero took Elaine Froiland of Bloomer, Lillian Wendlandt, Swanee Rasmussen and Elaine Toycen all of Sand Creek to the Colfax Whitetail Golf Course to attend their Colfax Class Reunions of 1941 and 1942.

Tom and Sue Gustum’s children participated in the Laura Ingalls Wilders Day at Pepin on Saturday, September 14 where 8-year-old Lisa Gustum had been chosen to answer questions on any part of the Laura Ingalls Wilders book. She was dressed in the perfect Laura Ingalls Wilders dress and bonnet that her mother had sewn with a little help from Lisa.

Sam Gustum accompanied the three violinists, Tessa Gustum, Abigail Gustum and Melvin Gustum when each played their violin solos at the event.

The members and friends of Independent Bible Church in Sand Creek gathered at the Dan and Deb Friis home near Wheeler enroute to Menomonie at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 15 for a picnic and fellowship around the camp fire. Everyone enjoyed a happy time.
