Sand Creek Chatter – 9-11-2013

Toby and Judy Horn, Swanhild Rasmussen, Elaine Toycen and Sharon Nelson all attended the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation grand opening at Colfax on Thursday afternoon of September 5, 2013. It took place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with the Dedication Ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

 They enjoyed touring the 40-bed skilled nursing unit with private rooms and private baths and an assisted living facility that has one bedroom apartments. with a full kitchen and dining room. Two of the apartments are larger to accommodate a couple.

They visited Snort Gilberts in his one bedroom assisted living apartment. He moved there on Saturday, August 31.

They also visited Juel and Penny Noer in their larger assisted living apartment suited for a couple.

Swanhild is a cousin of Juel Noer as their dads were first cousins. They were so happy to see Rachel Noer Spencer and her husband, Pastor Spencer who were present that day from Stillwater. Rachel is Juel’s sister.

Jerry and Sue Favero recently returned from a 10-day trip to WA & AZ. The hi-lite was Jerry’s reunion with the Marine Unit he served with in Vietnam 47 years ago-Echo Co. 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. The 17 Marines spent 3 days sharing memories and celebrating together.

Bob and Mary Hanson received word that Jim and Jessica Hanson and the family arrived in Guatamela City on the same day they flew out of Mexico City on August 31. The children have already attended a week of school, have settled into their home and experienced their first earth quake which was minor.

Sharon Hegna of Minneapolis stayed with Harlan and Lana Anderson on September 4 and 5.

On the evening of September 5, Bob and Norma Klimpke of Cedarburg were overnight guests of Harlan and Lana Anderson.

Glenn and Margie Anderson had the following breakfast guests on Friday, September 6: Bob and Norma Klimpke, Sharon Hegna, Sandy Anderson, Carol Anderson and Lana Anderson.

Kathy and Mert Cowley hosted a birthday party for their grandson, 7 year-old Reese Cowley on Saturday, August 31. Guests were: Dan and Judy Cowley, Stephanie and Ben Moerke, Nathan and Josh, Great-grandma Esther Reetz, Great-aunt Mary Reetz, Grandma and Grandpa, Judy and Louie Reetz, Reese’s mom and dad, Tracey and Dave Cowley and brothers, Trey and Brooks.

Rocky Thompson of Minocqua was home visiting his mother, Sue Piotrowski over Labor Day weekend.

Gene and Bonnie Peterson visited Snort Gilberts at his new apartment at the Colfax Rehabilitation Center on Friday, September 6.

The annual Labor Day weekend Fish Fry hosted by the Fred Dobbs family was held on Saturday, August 31 at the Lofthus Family campground with many relatives and friends in attendance.

Susan and Richard Carlson hosted a birthday party on Sunday, September 8 for their grandson, Angelo who celebrated his second birthday. Guests included: Great-grandma Avis Hanson, Angie and Brian Danielson, Blaine Edington and the family.

Independent Bible Church had a pot-luck dinner on Sunday, September 8 following the 10 o’clock worship service.

The fall schedule will begin on Sunday, September 15 with Worship Service at 9:30 a.m. followed by Sunday School at 10:45 a.m. and evening service at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
