Colfax Health and Rehab – 9-4-2013

Beautiful warm weather we are having… ok- HOT! Weather ushered in the week.

On Sunday many visitors enjoyed the cool of our building. In the afternoon Sue Hill was busy making root beer floats. The floats were appreciated by both residents and their families.

On Monday residents enjoyed breakfast and came to the Square for devotions, reading and a bit of exercise. Rex Classes after lunch got everyone moving and ready for the giant cross word puzzle in the Square. Residents visited with friends and enjoyed coffee and treats.

Tuesday began much like Monday with devotions, reading and exercise. The pace picked up in the afternoon when the Square was prepared for the 67th Anniversary Party for Ding and Tiny Reetz. Family members and friends filled the square and many stayed to enjoy Happy Hour. Residents played Bingo in the East Ridge Dining Room.

Pastor Schoenknecht from Holden, Norton, and North Running Valley Lutheran Churches led the church service on Wednesday morning. Deloris Huber was our pianist and Linnea was here to help where needed. She also helped on Tuesday and Friday with both Gospel sing and bingo. Wednesday afternoon we were entertained by Rudy Rudesill and his wonderful guitar music. River Boat Randy our music therapist gave 2 performances, 5:30 in West Ridge family dining room and 6:30 in the East Ridge Dining. Great job Randy!

On Thursday volleyball players gathered to get some exercise. The truth is they just came to have some fun!On  Thursday afternoon residents came to the Square for our September Resident Council Meeting. Laurie Craft, our Social Worker was our guest speaker. Residents talked about how they felt now after 1 month in their new home. Quiet rooms and better sleep were the two things everyone liked best.

On Friday Loretta led Rosary in the East Ridge family dining room. Glen and Julie led the gospel sing in the Square with Deloris Huber as our pianist. In the afternoon the Square filled with Bingo players for our Dime Bingo game.

On Saturday Shannon played Hollywood with many in the Square. Next week we will be having our Grand Opening on Thursday from 4 to 6, with a dedication ceremony at 4:30. The weather is supposed to be cooler which is a good thing since we are having food and entertainment outside. Tours, food and more music will be inside. It will be a great afternoon, so please join us.

That is it for this week here in the land of Colfax where the men are always smiling and the women keep them that way.
