Colfax girls sixth, Elk Mound ninth at Boyceville meet
It wasn’t exactly ideal conditions for a cross country meet with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees with high humidity Aug. 29 in Boyceville.
The weather took its toll as several girls collapsed during or after the race, requiring ambulances from four different towns to be called in for assistance. The boys’ race and the Middle School-Alumni race were both cancelled.
Glenwood City won the team title and the Colfax girls managed to place sixth as five runners completed the race. Dannielle Dachel came in second, just .4 seconds behind Alicia Monson of Amery at 17.25.6. Dempsey Fogarty followed in sixth place (17:58), Abbagail Schotter was 12th (18:55), Heidi Lieffort 70st (21:37) and Ally Heidorn 71st (21:47).
Elk Mound was led by a pair of freshmen as Elizabeth Fasbender was 13th (18:58), and Kami King 17th (19:24). Jamie Solem followed in 63rd (21:28), Nevada LaPoint was 83rd (22:33), Sam Jain 90th (23:25), Corrine Zimmer 97th (24:19), Waive Melgaard 98th (24:19) and Elayna Gutsch 103rd (24:59). 128 runners completed the race.
