Sand Creek Chatter – 8-21-2013
The Sand Creek Senior Citizens met at the Senior Center on Monday evening of August 5th with a pot-luck supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by Bingo.
Independent Bible Church held their Vacation Bible School at the church from August 5th to 9th meeting each day from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. There was a nice turnout from the church as well as from the community.
Lois Aasen participated in a family reunion with her mother, Anna Hoff and siblings numbering a total of around 40. The gathering was held at the Elmwood Park in Menomonie on Saturday, August 10th.
The New Hope Lutheran church conducted Vacation Bible School from Sunday, August 11th to Thursday of August 15th with a nice attendance of children coming each evening form 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Judy Reetz attended a bridal shower for her grandniece, Chelsey Prissel on Saturday, August 10th held at the home of Renee Prissel in Durand. The wedding will take place in Fargo, North Dakota, in October.
John and Kelsey Anderson vacationed in southern France on the French Riviera for two weeks. While they were there, the children, Tyler and Haley stayed parttime with Glenn and Margie Anderson at their farm here in Sand Creek and then they stayed parttime with Kelsey’s parents in Baraboo, WI. Glenn and Margie brought the children to Peoria, Illinois on August 7th and stayed for a little visit.
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Mrs. Audrey Prissel who passed away on Thursday, August 8th with the funeral service held at Holy Rosary Catholic church of Lima on Monday, August 12th. Audrey was a sister of Judy Reetz.
Janet Allison, Kathie Irwin, Elaine Toycen and Doris Tallman attended the Women’s Retreat at Luther Park on Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13.
A bridal shower was held at Independent Bible church for Mahrian Popple on Wednesday evening of August 14th at 7 p.m. Games were played and the bride-to-be received a nice assortment of gifts followed by a tasty lunch and fellowship.
Madi, Lexi and Joshua Hanson of Chippewa Falls and Nicole Hanson of Sand Creek were overnight guest of their grandmother, Jean Hanson on Thursday night, August 15 until Friday, August 16.
The WELCA of New Hope Lutheran church were represented by Sandy Timm and Sharon Nelson in delivering goodies for coffee to the residents of Morningside Apts. on Thursday afternoon of August 15 with Avis Hanson cooking the coffee.
Judy Horn went to Woodbury, MN on Thursday, August 15th and spent the day with her grandsons, Mitchell and Jonathan. They enjoyed golf at Country Air Golf, lunch at Noodles and Co and Jersey Subs plus shopping at Target and Barnes and Noble book store and ended up by having blizzards at the Dairy Queen.
Dean and Karen Miller of Hagerstown, MD visited their aunt, Avis Hanson on Saturday, August 17th.
Renny and Jack Kidder of Becketwood, MN visited Elaine Toycen on August 15th as well as brother, Orwin Sparby in Bloomer who is now back to his home there after residing at Hetzel’s for quite some time.
Four-week old Rylan Dietsche made his first trip to the Tallman farm during the past weekend of Aug. 17 and 18 with his parents, Mark and Amy Dietsche and sister, Madison all of Bettendorf, Iowa. Other family guests of Doris and Herb Tallman during August 18, were Michael and Lynn Lindau of Medford, Deb and Gus Avenido of St. Paul, Paul and Janeen Dietsche, MacKensie, Allyson and Ben of Marshfield and Joyce and Bob Carlson of Clayton.
Lillian Wendlandt, Elaine Toycen and Swanee Rasmussen enjoyed a scenic Sunday afternoon ride with Mae Sparby at the wheel on August 18. ending up with pie and coffee at the Main Street Café in Bloomer.
Carol Anderson and Sandy Anderson got together with Harlan and Lana Anderson on Sunday afternoon just to play cards at the Harlan Anderson home. No gambling I assure you.
