Community-wide thrift sales coming to Colfax for Firemen’s Ball
COLFAX — For the first time ever, Colfax will be holding community-wide thrift sales on Saturday, September 7, to coincide with the Colfax Firemen’s Ball.
“Other communities have held community-wide thrift sales with great success, now we’re going to try it in Colfax,” said Jackie Ponto, a member of the Colfax Commercial Club.
The idea is that those who want to hold a thrift sale on September 7 will pay a $5 fee to have their names and addresses added to a list of thrift sales that will be held that day.
The list of thrift sales will be available at businesses around town so that those who want to shop the sales will have a convenient list to guide them.
The list also will be published in the Colfax Messenger in the September 4 edition.
The $5 fee helps pay for advertising and costs associated with making copies of the list available to shoppers.
Those who sign up to have their thrift sales on September 7 will be included in a drawing for prizes.
The Colfax Commercial Club is sponsoring the community-wide thrift sales as a way to promote Colfax and the Colfax Firemen’s Ball, and club members are planning to make it an annual event.
If you would like to sign up to hold a thrift sale on September 7, call Jackie or Sheila at (715) 962-3311.
