Elk Mound Library to host “Booking It for Books”

ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound Library / Community Center Committee has partnered with the Elk Mound High School Cross Country Team in a fundraising effort for the Library / Community Center Building Project and the Cross Country Team. “Booking it for Books” is scheduled for early Sunday evening, August 18th.

This will be a 4-mile run/walk starting and ending at the Elk Mound Village Park.  A 2-mile walk event is also planned during the same time, and a kids ½ mile will be held at the park.  T-Shirts will be provided to 4 and 2 mile runners & walkers, with ribbons to all ½ mile participants.  All proceeds from this event will be directed between the library and cross country team.

If you are interested in sponsoring this event, please contact Julie Conlin or Patricia Hahn at 715-879-5011.  A sign up form and more information on the event is available on the website at www.elkmound.org.

Grant awards from Bremer Bank, Xcel Energy, Dunn Energy, along with support from area businesses such as The Junction Restaurant, Whitetail Golf Course, Cedar River Potato Co., B&J Auto Trim, The Natural Touch Landscaping, Becker Septic, Mounders Cutz, and numerous area residents have been assisting in the fundraising efforts for this worthy cause.

A project meter will be erected on site at E101 Menomonie Street in the next couple of weeks to show the progress with the ongoing fundraising efforts.  We have currently raised approximately 84% of our target completion goal of $175,000.  With additional grants and concentrated efforts, the Elk Mound library could be open by Spring of 2014!
