Colfax Health and Rehab Pic – 8-14-2013

Good news! The first week at our new campus has been very smooth. Residents have commented that they love their new rooms. Many have said it’s so nice and quiet and they haven’t slept this well in a long time. The new wider beds, sizeable private bathrooms with big showers and large vanity and their individual temperature controls have indeed made their new home more comfortable. The activity programs have not been changed.

We have Devotion, Reading and Exercise on Monday and Tuesday mornings. REX Classes are still at 1 pm and 6pm every day. OnMonday afternoon residents went bowling in the Square.

On Tuesday afternoon The Square was filled with Bingo Players who had winning on their minds. They were not ready to leave the Square when the games ended. Linnea Thompson was here to help with Bingo. Birthday cake was served, thanks to Gordon Mittelstadt family who were having a party in the East Ridge private dining area. Residents continued to socialize right up to and thru Happy Hour.

On Wednesday morning Pastor Koch from New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek led the Church service. Once again Linnea helped transport and assist residents where needed. In the afternoon residents came to the beauty shop and had manicures. It was so nice to have a large well-appointed beauty shop. Coffee was served in the Square which is right across the hall from the Beauty Shop. These social times are enjoyed by many who may now live in different neighborhoods. Some activity programs are in Eastridge Resident Lounge and some in the Birch Lounge. The Square is used for most programs. We will have the Square stocked with magazines, puzzles, games, coffee and snacks so residents can come and meet their friends and visit all during the day. Thursday morning Father Joseph C. Nakwah from St. Joseph Parish in Elk Mound had Mass for our Catholic residents. The East Ridge Resident Lounge provided a perfect location for Mass. Meanwhile Volleyball teams met in the Square. They played a robust game. After dinner and Rex many residents returned to the Square where they were entertained by Dale Martell’s Marvelous Melodies! Dale plays many instruments and is always very entertaining.

On Friday morning Loretta led Rosary. Meanwhile in the Square Glen and Julie led Gospel Sing. Deloris Huber played the piano to a full house. In the afternoon the Church Ladies from Holden were here for a monthly birthday party. The residents played Dime Bingo and had cake for dessert. Later a vending cart was passed with treats like candy bars and chips. Any residents who would like a snack in between meals can just ask someone in their neighborhood kitchen.

Saturday’s Hollywood game was played in the Square. Many residents had company and were happy to show off their new surroundings. The staff is getting used to the new routines and all in all we had a very good week! Until next week that’s the news from here in the land of Colfax where the men are strong and the women are too, especially after all the moving!
