Bonnie Peterson and Amy Smith traveled to Kirksville, Missouri on July 12 to attend the class induction and white coat ceremony for their granddaughter and niece, Nicole Bostic, who has entered medical school there at A.T. Still University College of Osteopathic medicine.
Lois Aasen had total knee replacement surgery at Menomonie on Tuesday, July 16, and now is having therapy at Menomonie three times every week. Her daughter, Robin has been with her some nights and granddaughter, Kayla has helped, too.
The Independent Bible Church in Sand Creek had a successful Vacation Bible School for area children last week from July 15 to July 19.
Virginia Thompson and daughters, Linnea and Jane of Colfax, attended the funeral service at Christ Lutheran church in Chetek for Marjorie Gronning on Saturday, July 20th.
Dave and Diane Toycen of Toronto, Canada had a good week visiting Dave’s mom, Elaine Toycen and other family members from July 13 to July 20th. They had a great time kayaking on the Red Cedar river on Tuesday, July 16. Then they enjoyed noon lunch with Orwin Sparby one day and had lunch at the Sand Creek Café on Friday, July 19 with Dan and Mary Lynn Toycen with inner tubing on the Red Cedar that afternoon. They flew home to Toronto on Saturday, July 20.
Becky Fostvedt of Eau Claire, took her mother, Nina Donaldson grocery shopping on Monday, July 15.
Susan Carlson and Michael Edington took Avis Hanson out to lunch at the Sand Creek Café on Friday, July 19.
Lillian Wendlandt spent a few days this past week with her daughter, Marian and husband, Michael Brasher.
Wesley and Deloris Paulson of Altoona met Pastor Michael Sparby of Chicago and his mother, Mae Sparby and Jean Larson at the Sand Creek Café for noon lunch on Friday, July 19.
Sunday, July 21, was the big day for the Annual Chicken Barbecue to support the Sand Creek Firemen’s department. The day began with rain, but there was a good turn-out anyway One of the highlights of Sunday was the Tractot-Pulling event where many ages, both boys and girls, took part and received ribbons or medals. The Sand Creek 4-H Piper Club members were excellent helpers throughout the day.
Venonah Hoveland Dalhoe, a weekend guest of Vernoid and Ardys Hoveland in Colfax, attended the Chicken Barbecue dinner at Riverside Park in Sand Creek on July 21. Having grown up in Sand Creek they were happy to take in this event.
Gaylon and Hannah Green hill brought their guest family from Norway to the dinner at the Park on Sunday. Friends found it interesting to meet the family
George and Delores Vlcek and George’s brother, Jack and his wife, Kathy Vlcek attended the Iola Car Show together on July 12 and 13.
