Tom and Caryl Schoen spent the weekend of Father’s Day, June 15 and 16 with their daughter, Tammi Benson and her family in Big Bend, WI.
13-year-old Melvin Gustum of the Sand Creek Pipers 4-H Club showed a 262 lb. Gilt pig at the Colfax Fair on June 16. Lakeland Cooperative purchased the pig from Melvin when his pig was auctioned off on June 16th at the Fair.
15-year-old Ross Taylor also with the Sand Creek Pipers 4-H Club showed his Duroc pig on June 16 when it was auctioned off and bought by Little Italy Restaurant in Colfax.
15-year-old Jared Taylor showed his Yorkshire pig that was bought by Bri Meat Processing Processing in Colfax when it was auctioned off. on June 16th
12-year-old Philip Taylor showed his Yorkshire pig and it was auctioned off on June 16. His pig was bought by Lakeland Coop. Ross Taylor showed a Brown Swiss heifer.
Jared Taylor showed a Holstein heifer.
Jim and Kathie Irwin did some interesting travel early this summer when they traveled to Toronto, Canada taking in the sights and came back to the United States via of Dearborn, Michigan where they visited The Henry Ford that included: the Museum, Greenfield Village and the Imax Theater. There was a lot more to see than old cars. Check it out with Jim and Kathie next time you see them.
Elaine Clemmens had surgery on one of her feet at Oak Leaf Hospital in Eau Claire on June 11th. She needs be “off” of that foot for awhile until she receives a “boot” to help her get around. Her daughter, Joyce Goodremote, came home from Wyoming to be with her mom and Dick during her recovery. We wish her successful healing until it comes time to have surgery on the other foot.
On Friday, June 21st, Bob and Mary Hanson, Angie, Camila and Roci traveled to Madison to see a baseball game with the Mallards playing the Lakeshore Chinooks. There, they met Jim and Jess Hanson, Nate and Josh of Sand Creek and Katie and Matt Lois, Jenna and Adam of Oconomowoc. After the game, which was ended by a thunderstorm, they all went to the Lois home for the weekend. Jim and Jess Hanson, Angie, Camila and Roci returned home on Sunday evening. Then Bob and Mary Hanson, Nate and Josh returned home on Monday morning of June 24th.
Judy Horn and Swanee Rasmussen went to Bloomer on Wed. afternoon of June 26th to visit Colette Knutzen at the Bloomer Hospital.
Then they also spent time at The Maplewood Nursing Home visiting Anna and Gerald Madison enjoying coffee and doughnuts together.
Delayed news is that friends and relatives from this area attended the funeral for Nila Berg Erickson held on June 4th at First Lutheran church in New Richmond. She had reached the age of 91 years. She was well known in Sand Creek in her younger years when she was the cashier at the Sand Creek Farmers Store. Henry Berg and Alden Berg are her brothers that survive as well as one son.
Glenn and Margie Anderson returned home on Sunday, June 23rd from a travel trip that included: visiting Dave and Sara Wattenford and little daughter, Kalia in Sheboygan, then on to Grand Rapids, Michigan to see a niece and family and on to Detroit to see a nephew and family. They drove along Lake Huron and across the Mackinac Bridge to upper Michigan where they visited Margie’s brother, Bruce and Kathy Peterson. They enjoyed a scenic drive home through northern Wisconsin.
Gaylon and Hannah Greenhill visited Swanhild Rasmussen on Wednesday evening of June 26th.
Every parent, uncle and aunt, cousins and grandparents gathered at the Olde School on Wed. evening of June 26th to see the last T-Ball game of the season and the children enjoyed ice cream treats.
