Elk Mound grads complete college baseball seasons

Garrick Day, a junior on the Wisconsin Lutheran baseball team along with Austin DeLong, a freshman for the Augsburg (MN) team both concluded their season with their respective teams last month.

Day was named Student-Athlete of the Week twice for the NAC Conference and led the Warriors in several categories as they posted a 20-17 overall record and 11-11 conference record. Playing second base while batting in the lead off spot, Day started 35 games, batted .340 with 33 hits including three doubles with 13 RBIs. He led the team in runs scored with 32, in walks drawn with 23 and in stolen bases with 27. He finished with a .957 fielding percentage. with 83 put outs and 95 assists and only eight errors. He also continues to pitch for the team as he compiled a 4-1 record with a 3.20 earned run average in 39.1 innings pitched, allowing 36 hits with nine strikeouts and six walks.

DeLong was listed as an outfielder for the Auggies and did not see any varsity time this season. The team finished 24-15 and were 11-9 in the MIAC this year.
