Colfax house damaged by fire

COLFAX —  A house at 505 West Street in Colfax owned by Kim Anderson has been damaged by fire.

The Colfax Fire Department responded to a call received about 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, at Anderson’s home on West Street.

There was “lots of smoke” when the fire department arrived, said Don Logslett, Colfax fire chief.

The fire was contained to the basement of the home, he said.

The Menomonie Fire Department and the Elk Mound Fire Department provided mutual aid to Colfax, Logslett said, noting that firefighters were on the scene for several hours.

Logslett said the Colfax Fire Department did not take any photos of the fire.

A reporter from the Colfax Messenger was not allowed close enough to take pictures of the house fire.

The Colfax Police Department provided traffic control for the fire while the fire departments were on scene.
