Sand Creek Chatter – 6-5-2013
Lee and Charlotte Anderson picked up Inez Schrader on Friday, May 24, and went to Barron where they picked up Mary Halverson. They delivered flowers to Dunn, Barron, Rusk, and Price counties. They spent some time in Hawkins first because Mary wanted to see where Inez grew up and also where Inez’s grandmother lived. Their grandmothers were sisters. It was a long way and a great day. They had lunch at a nice restaurant during their journey.
Aaron and Britney Anderson were home from Champaign, IL for Memorial weekend to visit Aaron’s mother, Sandy Anderson.
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Dale Clemmens who passed away on May 27, 2013. He was the son of Daniel and Jana Lee Clemmens and grandson of local Sand Creek grandparents. Dick and Elaine Clemmens. The funeral service was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic church on Highway 40 near Bloomer. Many friends from the Sand Creek area attended the service on Friday, May 31.
Norma and Bob Klimpke of Cedarburg, WI and Sharon Hegna of Mpls. came to plant flowers and bushes at the local cemeteries during the Memorial weekend.
Ron and Mary Keller were home with Mary’s mother, Mae Sparby for Memorial weekend.
Ashley Keller was home for a short visit with her grandmother, Mae Sparby on June 2.
Gene and Eunice Knutson of Ridgeland picked up Swanhild Rasmussen on Thursday morning, May 30 to attend the funeral service for their cousin, Kenneth Sundby held at the New Life Church of the Nazarene in Wheeler followed by fellowship at the church and then the burial at the Lower Running Valley Cemetery in the Town of Colfax.
Dick and Elaine Clemmens and Elaine Toycen attended the wedding of Dick and Elaine Clemmens’ grandson, Tommy Piper to Grace Mae Kohnen held at the Chetek Baptist church on Saturday, June 1st at 1 pm. Reception immediately followed the wedding at the church.
Jean Hanson attended the State Track Meet at LaCrosse on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1st where her grandson, Hayden Frey, the son of Scott and Jolene Frey participated. In one run, he placed 8th and in a different run, , he placed second. He also took part in pole vaulting.
Sandy Anderson, Sue Favero and Aaron Anderson participated in a “Bike Ride” that started on Sunday, May 26 at Irvine Park continuing on to Jim Falls, Eagleton and back to Irvine Park. Sandy and Sue rode 35 miles and Aaron with an added loop traveled 50 miles. They ended with a lunch at Irvine Park.
Jon Schack, the Director of Luther Park and Counsellors led the 9 a.m. worship service at the Pine Creek church ( the only New Hope worship service) on Sunday, June 2 followed by a coffee and social hour.
