Music in the Park starts June 20
COLFAX — Music in the Park at the gazebo stage begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings, starting June 20, in Tower Park in Colfax next to the Colfax Municipal Building.
Refreshments will be available, and the traditional pie and ice cream sale by the Colfax Restoration Group will be held on the last concert date, August 15.
The rain location for all concerts is the Colfax Auditorium next to the park.
The series is co-sponsored by Colfax Woman’s Club, Bremer Bank, Colfax Messenger, Colfax Public Library, and the Colfax Municipal Building Restoration Group
The Music in the Park schedule is as follows:
June 20 — John Loy, Concertina
John Loy played in our concert series some years back and will return to play polkas and other classics on his concertina.
June 27 — Bethany Praise Singers
July 4 – NO CONCERT. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY
July 11 — White Pine Ramblers Dixieland Band
This group of Menomonie area musicians led by Dr. Carol Rund always draws a big and appreciative crowd.
July 18 — Austin Herrick
Local teacher Austin Herrick plays acoustic guitar and sings and is joined by his family and friends.
July 25 — The Herrlinger Family
From the winding back roads of Boyceville, the Herrlinger family plays traditional hymns, acappella and instrumental arrangements, folk styles, original works and old fashioned Gospel bluegrass. All the family play, and instruments include acoustic guitar, bass guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, hammered dulcimer and resonator guitar or Dobro.
August 1 — Prodigal Rain
Christian, country, folk, 60’s tunes, and yodeling.
August 8 — Bill Jamerson, author, filmmaker and song writer from Upper Michigan, will present a tribute to the CCC Boys (Civilian Conservation Corps) and the work they did from 1933-1941. People are invited to bring their personal memories or photos from those days to share.
August 15 — Jim Herrick and friends play a range of instruments, including harmonica, fiddle, guitar, keyboard and bass guitar, as well as vocals. They provide a rousing finale to the Colfax Music in the Park series. The Colfax Restoration Group will have their annual pie sale at this concert.
