Elk Mound 8th grader places 3rd in state archery championships

ELK MOUND — Karie Jo Nigon, an eighth grader at Elk Mound Middle School, recently placed third at the state archery championships in Wisconsin Rapids.

Karie scored 281 out of a possible 300 points. She is currently ranked first among Wisconsin eighth graders, third among Wisconsin middle school girls, and is the sixth overall female (grades 4 through 12).

She has qualified for the national tournament and will compete in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 9.

Karie’s archery coach is Renee Simpson, a teacher at Elk Mound Middle School.

Karie Jo is the daugther of Mike and Barb Nigon.
