Xcel demonstrates commitment to their community

A group of Xcel Energy employees presented a $4,122 check on April 17 to the United Way of Dunn County at the United Way C-3 (community, care, compassion) Center in Menomonie.

The donation represents area employee contributions to the 2012 campaign and the Xcel Energy Foundation match.

“We live and work in the communities we serve, and once again our employees have stepped up to show how much we care,” said Bob Schultz, Xcel Energy’s community service manager in Menomonie.

“We know that in these difficult economic times, these donations are more vital than ever. Through our Xcel Energy Foundation, we can positively impact the quality of life in the towns and cities we serve,” he said.

The donation will benefit various United Way partner agencies, as well as the C-3 Center, which provides free-of-charge clothing, furniture, appliances and other household items to people in need.

“We are very appreciative of the continued support from Xcel Energy and its employees. Thanks to their commitment to United Way, this gift will make a huge impact in making a difference in many lives,” said Diane Simon, executive director of the United Way of Dunn County.

Xcel Energy and its employees have been supporters of the United Way for many years, and in 2007 earned the United Way’s national “Spirit of America” award for its long-term commitment to the community.
