Mounders bruise Buffaloes twice
MONDOVI — Aggressive base running, timely hits and consistant pitching allowed the Elk Mound softball team to roll over the Mondovi Buffaloes in a double header at Mondovi April 25.
Scoring three runs in the first inning of one game, Mounder pitcher Dayna Kotecki had a shutout going until the fifth inning as they took the opener 9-1. Kotecki and Morgan Polden combined for a one hitter in the second game as Elk Mound improved their record to 3-1 with a 13-0 win. (All double headers are being played as five inning games).
Game 1
Amanda Ward slammed a double and scored twice, Becca Kopp also smacked a double and knocked in a pair of runs and McKenna Borofka had a pair of RBI. Katie Bergh added two hits in the game. Kotecki allowed just four hits with two strikeouts and two walks for the win.

Game 2
The Mounders again jumped to an early lead, this time scoring six runs in the first inning. Kopp, Kaysi Meindel and Bergh combined for seven stolen bases in the game, and Maddy Polden and Meindel both collected two hits with one of Polden’s a double. Kotecki started on the mound and went two innings, not allowing a hit, while whiffing five Buffalo batters and walking two. Morgan Polden finished off the game and gave up one hit, with three strikeouts and no walks in three innings.
