Colfax track team faces stiff competition

ARCADIA — Finally getting some warm weather to compete in, the Colfax boys and girls track and field teams went south to compete against 11 other teams at the Schultz Invitational held in Arcadia April 26.

With the top eight places counting for team points, the girls placed seventh while the boys were eighth in a field which included some Division 1 and 2 teams along with a powerhouse Edgar team.

Garrett Miller led the boys by winning the 400m dash with a personal record. Miller also a part of the winning 4X800 relay with Matthew Almquist, Tucker Hovde and Lachlan Hinwood. They set a season personal best time.

For the girls, the 4X800 relay team took first with Dempsey Fogarty, Brittany Rothbauer, Dannielle Dachel and Ryleigh Prochnow running.

“Our kids really competed hard in probably the most talented filled meet we will see before the state meet,” Coach Ryan Krall said.

“Whenever Edgar shows up you know you are at a big meet, and our kids performed as if it were just that. Being able to beat kids from larger schools and traditional power athletes should be a confidence booster as the season moves on,” he said.
