Colfax FBLA members earn high recognition at state
Representing Colfax High School at the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference April 15-17 in the Wisconsin Dells, senior Reed Gibson placed third in Sports Management and senior Sara Schmock and junior Heidi Lieffort were also third in Desktop Publishing.
Reed’s high test score qualifies him for the FBLA National Conference Competition in Anaheim, CA June 27-30. Seniors Trevor Secraw and Matthew Almquist attended as voting delegates.
The conference brings together over 200 FBLA Chapters and 1,800 students throughout the state for general assemblies, workshops and competitive events. The conference began with a general assembly with 2,000 people as Heidi showcased her musical talents by singing the National Anthem. For the competitive events, the top 21 students or teams in each event from around the state came together to compete. There were no divisions by school size so Colfax students were up against students from large and small schools and many different programs. At the closing awards program, the top eight in each event were recognized and the top five received plaques.
