Each year St. Croix County Public Health recognizes a person or people who have been exceptional Public Health partners within our community. This is the 14th year we have given this award and are pleased to present Barb Nelson with the 2013 Friend of Public Health award. The persons chosen for this recognition exemplify dedication to promoting health and preventing disease.
Barb has been a friend to Public Health for a long time. Her contributions to the community are numerous. She is active in the Food Resource Collaborative and she is also active in the Moola for Milk program which allows the food shelves to give out vouchers for families to purchase Milk. Barb is on the Tobacco Task Force, and is a driver for people needing transportation to receive medical care. She is also a Master Gardener. There are surely other ways Barb contributes to Public Health that we are not even aware of.
Deb Lindemann, St Croix County Health officer states, “This year’s Public Health Week theme, Public Health is ROI (return on investment)-Save lives, Save money, fits Barb perfectly. Barb believes in prevention. She is conservative with resources yet generous with her time and contributions to others and to the community.”
Thank you Barb for all you have done and continue to do and for being the 2013 Friend of Public Health.
