Mounders drop conference game to Pepin/Alma
The Elk Mound softball team managed to get a game in last week but had to go south to play. The only problem was it happened to be against Pepin/Alma, the team the Mounders hoped to contend with for a conference championship this year. After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, Elk Mound scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to knot the score but P/A came back with two in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the 4-2 win in the game played April 15.
Lizzie Schreiber, Maddy Polden, Becca Kopp, Dayna Kotecki, Kylynn Simon and Katie Bergh all picked up a hit for the Mounders, but none were for extra bases. Kopp and Bergh both knocked in a run and Polden and Simon scored for the Mounders.
Kotecki took the loss, giving up four runs on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Elk Mound is now 1-1 on the season.
