Sand Creek Chatter – 4-17-2013
Library news: April 14-21 is National Library Week. It has been a very long winter and the library hasn’t had too many visitors come and check out some items and support the library in Sand Creek. During National Library Week the library will have treats and a book giveaway. If you haven’t been in the building for awhile, you are in for a wonderful surprise when you step into the lobby enroute to the library.
Rhonda Nelson enjoyed Easter Sunday dinner with daughter, Wendy and family in Ridgeland.
On Easter Monday, April 8, Louie and Judy Reetz visited Stephanie Moerke and grandsons, Nathan and Joshua at their home in Chippewa Falls.
Carol Anderson recently returned from Colorado where she visited two of her children, Jessica and Daniel and grandson Jax, as well as, friends in Aurora, Colorado. They gave her a great April birthday which she celebrated by going out to eat four times. On her return trip home she was caught in a snow blizzard at Murdo, South Dakota for four days where she had to stay until Interstate Hwy 90 opened. We are glad she is safe and sound back in Sand Creek.
The Red Cedar River Saddleback Club had a get-together with Bobbi Schoen Fraser last week to say goodbye to her before she moved to Minnesota. They presented her with a gift.
Pastor Bob Koepp’s mother, Doris Koepp, had surgery done at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis on April 6.
Judy Horn, along with Carol Ebling and Charlene Pagenkopf returned on Monday evening, April 8 from a trip to Hillsboro, Oregon where they visited Beverly Wait Anderson. While there, they drove to Depoe Bay, Oregon where the group enjoyed staying on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Although the weather was rainy and windy, the gals had an enjoyable time.
On the evening of April 12, Louie and Judy Reetz watched their grandson, Brayden Wolf, a 4th grader from Elmwood, play basketball. His team took second place, losing only to Turtle Lake. Great job Brayden!
Gaylon and Hannah Greenhill of Whitewater joined the Sand Creek “regulars” for their Saturday morning breakfast get-together at the Sand Creek Café on April 13.
Mark Gilberts arrived in Sand Creek last week to spend time with his dad, Snort Gilberts. On Saturday, April 13 they had breakfast with Cindy Gilberts in Menomonie and enjoyed the day with her.
Louie and Judy Reetz drove to Black River Falls on April 13 to celebrate Brooks Cowley’s 4th birthday. Other guests in attendance were: Mert and Kathy Cowley, Dan and Judy Cowley, Stephanie Moerke and sons, Nathan and Josh and Pam Cavanaugh.
Tom and Caryl Schoen went over to Burnsville, MN on Friday to spend the weekend with grandsons, Luke and Jake while their parents went to the University of Duluth to be with their daughter, Alyx for a special event at the University.
Jean Hanson and her sister, Judy Gronning went out for fish together on the evening of April 12.
